Eighth Street Trail

There are currently two segments of Connector Trail completed along 8th Street on the property of Taylor University.  The first, a concrete greenway, extends from the softball complex north to Reade Avenue and is suitable for walking, running, inline skaters, and other forms of recreation.

A few hundred yards north, a crushed limestone segment begins on the same side of Eighth Street extending north to East County Road 600 South (Berry Street).  Construction has begun to extend this section of trail west, paralleling the county road to the Taylor Cross Country Complex.

The vision is to connect the Eighth Street trails to the Upland Greenways network and to neighboring communities in Grant, Delaware and Blackford Counties.  For now, the Eighth Street trail provides access for the community to reach the Taylor campus and eliminates some of the need to navigate the narrow roadway.  Taylor University funded the materials for these trails, but much of the labor has been provided by community volunteers.
